Decorating for Christmas

Visiting Sheila and Alahna in Chicago

Haven and I got to visit our dear friends Sheila and her daughter Alahna in Chicago!  Sheila, Eric, and Alahna lived in Des Moines while Sheila attended Med School at DMU.  We met them at church and became great friends.  They now live in Pennsylvania where Sheila is doing her residency.  They were visiting family in Chicago so we took the opportunity to drive out and see them!  We had a wonderful time!  The girls loved each other and played really well together.  Sheila and I were pregnant with the girls at the same time (they are 2 months apart) and now we are pregnant with our baby boys at the same time (they will be two months apart again!  Ha!)  Sheila and I had a great time catching up!

Glass Slipper?

Haven's boot fell off in the fabric store today and we had to go back in to find it.  When I asked her where her boot was she looked at me and said, "Oh no!  I lost my glass slipper!"

Sharing Hands

We have been working on the wonderful concept of sharing in this household. 
Here is a conversation we had in the car....

Haven:  (in a concerned voice) "Mom!  The hands are not sharing!"
Me:  "What hands?  Haven's hands?"
Haven:  "THESE hands!" (while holding up her hands with a sippy cup in one of the hands) 
Me:  (After sitting silently for a moment deciding how to respond)  "Well you better teach them how to share!"
Haven:  "Yay!  They are sharing now!"
