Good Morning Haven Annabelle

Adam took pictures of Haven in her crib this morning right after she woke up. She is always so happy in the morning...especially when Daddy is home!

Grace by Saving Jane

I like this song. Here's a link to a video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kb3le1MHsH8

Here are the lyrics:

"Grace"

I don't wanna see, I don't wanna see anything
I don't wanna be, I don't wanna be lost again
I don't wanna walk, I don't wanna walk far from You
I just wanna live, I just wanna live like You do
As I stumble to the light of grace
You said You'd always have a place for me
Got a little scared, got a little scared in the woods
And everywhere I turn, everywhere I turn nothing's good
Then I saw a little light, saw a little light shine for me
And I found a little path, found a little path at my feet
As I fumble with the gift of my free will
He says hush now, listen to my voice, be still
My refuge, my Father
The only Living Water
I'm weary, I'm broken
I've cracked my heart wide open
Unholy, unworthy
And still You reassure me
You knew me
Before I new myself
I don't wanna be, I don't wanna be lost again

My S.T.O.R.Y.

I recently read "Cure for the Common Life" by Max Lucado for a book club. At first I didn't really get into the book because it seemed like it was geared toward someone who wasn't really satisfied with their job and felt like God wanted them to be doing something else. I didn't really think that the book would apply to me since I feel that I am doing what God created me to do...to be a wife and a mommy! :)

Once I got further into the book I changed my attitude and realized that God could teach me some things and I ended up really liking the book! Part of the book was to find you S.T.O.R.Y. You did this by recalling and documenting experiences in your life when you felt you were "in your sweet spot" or when you felt like you did something you enjoyed or did something well. Once you documented these experiences you went through and identified the following:
S=Strengths
T=Topics
O=Optimal Conditions
R=Relationships
Y=Yes!

From that were able to create your S.T.O.R.Y.

So, without further ado, here is my S.T.O.R.Y.:

The themes in my S.T.O.R.Y. show that God has put me together so that I love to plan events/activities, assign tasks, spend time with people, and teach others. I particularly like to do that with people; specifically children, my daughter, friends, and those in need. I work best in optimal conditions that include situations in which a leader is needed or people need help in some way. And I am at my best when I'm in the role of initiator, leader, mother, teacher, or friend. All these themes of my S.T.O.R.Y. work together so that I can help others feel good or succeed and to see something successfully accomplished.

MOMMY!!!!!

I am thrilled!

After two months of being called "Daddy" my child has FINALLY decided to start calling me "Mommy" again! It's not that Haven couldn't say "mommy;" she just chose not to. She used to call me "Mama" very consistently. But one day, she decided that it would be funny to call me Daddy. I would even say to her, "Call me Mommy!" She would reply with a sly smile and say, "No, Daddy!" I would then say, "Mommy, Mommy, Mommy!" And she would say, "Daddy, Daddy, Daddy!"

Well, Haven has been sick the last week and a few times when she wasn't feeling well she would slip and say, "Mama!" Then, all of a sudden, yesterday she called me "Mommy!" Of course, all day long I kept saying, "Say Mommy!" And she would! Now today she has been calling me "Mommy" all day long! YAY!

It seems so silly even as I am typing this but it truly brings joy to my heart that she has taken down her ornery 16-month-old guard and will call the woman who brought her into this world her rightful and earned name!
