W is for Weather

I haven't been feeling well the last few weeks so it actually took us a couple of weeks to get through this theme.  Normally that would make me crazy because of the planner that I am, but I really just have let it go & realized that with life right now (and always) things are never going to be perfect and sometimes you just have to go with the flow!

Preschool Week #4
10/10-10/21/11
Theme: Weather
Letter: W
Bible Verse:
"We love because He first loved us."  1 John 4:19

We also incorporated Noah's Ark this week b/c I figured there was a lot of crazy weather in that story!  :)

Taking a few weeks to complete this theme also let us see a variety of weather which made it really fun!

Pumpkins for my Punks

I think nicknames are funny.  It honestly bothers me when people have weird nicknames for their children.  BUT, I am so right there with all the weirdo parents and call my kids obnoxious things as well!
You just can't help it!
I call Haven "Punks" a lot.
Here is the evolution of this nickname:

Haven was born in the fall and thus earned the name "My Little Pumpkin"
Later shortened to Punkin
Then I randomly started calling her Punky Brewster
Then Punky
Then Punks or Punk

Poor Girl.

Anyway.  This last week we learned about Pumpkins and the Letter "P."  I personally LOVE pumpkin everything.  Probably partially to do with my obsession with Cinderella as a child (and maybe as a 29-year-old).  I also just think pumpkins are cute and fun and i LOVE LOVE LOVE pumpkin anything to eat!  So, this week was super fun for Mommy and I am pretty sure "My Little Pumpkin" had a great time!

Preschool Week #3
10/3/11-10/7/11
Theme:  Pumpkins
Letter:  P
Bible Verse:
"Praise the Lord!  For it is good to sing praises to our God."  Psalms 147:1

 Roman loves preschool too!

Haven learned how to cut this week.  She LOVES cutting!

Powerpoint that I found online

One highlight of the week was reading "The Pumpkin Patch Parable" by Liz Curtis Higgs.  It presents the gospel in a really unique way that kids can understand.  We read this book many times and did some activities to go with it!

Haven is doing a great job in school!
We planned to go to the pumpkin patch with Daddy on Saturday but we were too tired and went out for breakfast at IHOP instead.  We will make it in the next few weeks.  We also made pumpkin cookies but I, of course, didn't get any pictures.  I think we will be making pumpkin goodies every week for a while!

Apple-licious!

Week #2 of Preschool was Apples/Letter A week (September 26-30).  What a fun time we had!  We did many fun activities including visiting an Apple Orchard, making homemade applesauce and apple biscuits, and lots of fun things at home.

We started our new bible verse book this week:
My ABC Bible Verses: Hiding God's Word in Little Hearts

Our "A" verse was:
"A soft answer turns away wrath."  Proverbs 15:1

Here are some highlights of the week!

Iowa Orchards:
Grammy came to join in on the fun!

 Picking out apples to buy

You weren't supposed to pick apples but my mom let Haven pick one anyway.  I told her that it was her "sin" apple and she should eat it!

Another great week!

Princess Preschooler

On Monday, September 19th we started Preschool at home with Haven!  Since she is so young we decided we weren't going to do a curriculum and it would be best to make it more fun than academic and add in learning as we go!  We are doing a different theme each week, incorporating a letter of the week, and incorporating a verse each week to memorize and learn about.  I also try to add in biblical stories, ideas, and activities as we are learning.  So far it has been a blast and Haven is loving it!  She enjoys the one-on-one time with mom, loves to learn, and is really doing well with our day being more structured.

Our first week was the week leading up to her birthday.  I decided to do a princess theme that week since she was having a Cinderella party.  I knew that the weekend of her birthday would be filled with glam and glitz so I wanted to focus more on what positive character qualities princesses exhibit as well as talk about how we have a heavenly father who is our King and that makes us God's princesses!  I also thought that doing a princess theme would win "school" over since she is obsessed with princesses right now!  Boy was I right!  She LOVED everything!  It was so fun!

 Silly Girl!
 Classic Haven look!
She is SOOO SWEET!  Happy First Day of School Havee Bells!
 Loving the white board!

 Lots of fun princess activities!

I found a website that had A TON of stuff!  I made these little "Tot Books" for her.  She loved them!

Birthday pictures to come soon!
